Corporate Information > Corporate Background

American Auto-Matrix was founded in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. in 1979 as Innovative Technology, Inc (ITI), and began as a custom engineering and consulting group manufacturing specialty electronic equipment for European customer base.
In 1982 the company became American Auto-Matrix, Inc. and introduced the AI2100 Building Brain®. It was the first facilities automation system in the world to offer an open communications protocol, generation-to-generation compatibility, distributed intelligence, direct digital control (DDC), and object-oriented programming.
Through the years American Auto-Matrix has positioned itself as a worldwide leader in providing “Smart Building Solutions”®. AAM provides solutions for HVAC, Access, Lighting, Light Process and Laboratory and Fume Hood control as well as unparalleled support, service and training facilities.
In December 2002, American Auto-Matrix was purchased by Jordan Acquisition Group, LLC, a group of private U.S. Investors. In 2006, the company officially became a Service Disabled Veteran, Woman Owned Business enterprise (SDVOSB/WOB), opening more opportunities for growth and strategic development to an already expanding American owned company. This is directly a result of the American Auto-Matrix philosophy to create multiple venues for our network of Solution Integrators to succeed. Just as with our product technology, AAM wants our strategies to be flexible to fit the needs of almost any situation.
