HVAC Control Products > Unitary Controllers

The Auto-Matrix family of products includes stand-alone, microprocessor-based unitary controllers developed for multiple applications including variable air volume (VAV) terminal box control, heat pump control, general purpose multiplexing, laboratory/fume hood control, packaged unitary control and more. Use Auto-Matrix unitary controllers when you need:
smart, stand-alone, application-specific DDC
unitary control networkable to a higher-level automation system
reduced installation time and cost
superior local control performance at lower operating costs
reliable, high-speed communications over twisted pair wire
Designed for maximum flexibility, the Auto-Matrix system provides a wide range of programmable, stand-alone, microprocessor-based unitary controllers. These controllers can be factory installed by original equipment manufacturers (OEM), or they can be field applied in retrofit applications. While these controllers can monitor and control individual units, they can easily become part of a larger system by networking with an area controller.
We offer a full line of stand-alone or networkable unitary controllers. This range of controllers can handle small applications such as variable-air-volume systems or large projects such as the total control of a complete physical plant. The MC1 provides powerful stand-alone or networking direct digital control and monitoring. Similar to the MC1 in size and overall capabilities, the GC1 adds support for the SAGE Programming Language (SPL) making it ideal for custom control applications. If an application requires greater flexibility in input, output, or programmable capabilities than offered by the MC1 or GC1, then the GX1 is the solution. The ultimate American Auto-Matrix® (AAM) unitary controller, the DX1 offers complete stand-alone control and monitoring without host supervision and has full peer-to-peer capabilities with other controllers on the same PUP network. When an AAM SAGEMAX TM or SF1TM area controller, or a DX1 unitary controller requires a networkable, microprocessor-based multiplexer for monitoring signals in a large PUP network, the IX1 is the obvious choice.

Being open simply isn’t enough. That’s why American Auto-Matrix (AAM) has developed the Native Series product line, which includes the NB-Pro Configuration Software as well as unitary controllers* for use in VAV, CAV, Rooftop, Heatpump, Fancoil, and Variable Air Volume / Variable Temperature applications. The Native Series line of products comply with ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 135-2001, BACnet®.
To date, the Native Series product line includes:

In October, 2000, American Auto-Matrix (AAM) introduced a new generation of Smart Building Controls (SBC)--the Evolution Series™. True to AAM philosophy, the Evolution Series offers generation-to-generation compatibility and system reliability. The Evolution Series products are capable of adding industry standard protocols like BACnet® Other features of the Evolution Series products include state-of-the-art digital sensor technology, Motorola processors, and true pixel graphical display (SBC-STAT3).
